Gastrolad in print: Fire and Knives No. 10

Dear readers, just a quick one to let you know that I have achieved one of my latent ambitions - to appear in print! Because there is an article by yours truly in the new edition of Tim Hayward's excellent food journal Fire and Knives.

For those of who are as yet unaware of F&K, it is a quarterly magazine of 'new writing for food lovers'. So there are no recipes, no three easy ways with canned tuna, or two week meal plans for macrobiotic vegans. Instead, just well penned articles on food, drink and anything related.

It isn't available online, so if you want to get hold of a copy (as you're reading a food blog, you probably fit the target demographic), you'll have to subscribe online or head to one of the stockists - Londoners, Foyles on Charing Cross Road has plenty of copies in.

Almost forgot to mention, my article is on the food featured in Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series of historical novels  - plum duff, spotted dog, salt beef, soused hog's face and the like...
